Twas The Night Before Christmas.

It's Christmas eve! I've officially texted everyone in my phonebook wishing them a Merry Christmas.
People tend to forget what it's about. Even if you're not Christian you should know that it's about giving! It's about not being selfish and it's about family.
And even if you don't believe you have to appreciate the story:
Joesph and Mary (who the world has practically turned their backs on) only have each other and the hope of having a child. Their friends hate them because they think they did something wrong. They are alone and must travel hundreds of miles while Mary is pregnant because some douche *excuse my language* of a king wants them to.
On Mary and Joesph's journey, three wise men discover a change in the stars and believe that the stars will be pointing like a map. So instead of staying at home comfortably, they travel HUNDREDS of miles for months to see these stars. On their way they talk to a king and tell them of the prophecy of the stars. Of the messiah (the son of God). The king (who is so afraid of losing power) tells them to bring news when they find the Messiah.
When Mary and Joesph finally get to Bethlehem Mary goes into labor. But every Inn is so crowded they have no room for them. Finally, one man offers the barn outside the inn where Mary gives birth to a boy named Jesus. A star shines overhead, pointing like a map.
In a Field nearby Shepard's tend to their sheep when thousands of angels appear, telling them of the great news. Every Shepard follows the star into Bethlehem wishing to see the newborn king.
The wise men arrive and greet Mary and Joesph. Telling them of their travels and giving gifts.
The Shepards come to see the child's face. When Mary offers a shepard the chance to hold Jesus the shepard refuses and says that he is not worthy.
That was when Mary said "He is a gift to the world."
The three wise men decided not to tell the king of the Messiah and travel back.
That night an angel meets Joesph in his dreams and warns him to leave Bethlehem. And soon the king casts an order to kill every newborn baby in the town.
Mary, Joesph, and Jesus leave safely. They leave together. And they have hope as they walk away.
Even if you don't believe in the story then you need to realize the underlining hope there. Mary and Joesph had NOTHING. Their families hated them because they thought Mary and Joesph had sex before they were truly married. They were people who continued to be stepped on.
But even when everything seemed wrong...
there was that star that shined overhead.
That story shows that there is ALWAYS hope and that this is a time for giving.
NOT for presents.
So be kind to someone this Christmas.
THAT'S ALL I GOTS TO SAY.
